Film Screenings, Lectures, and Concerts in Celebration
of the Diversity of America's Musical Heritage

“We humanize what is going on in the world and in ourselves only by speaking of it, and in the course of speaking of it, we learn to be human.” – Hannah Arendt (German-American political theorist)

As a new season approaches and the activities of summer are left behind, plan to fill your days and nights, in the spirit of Hannah Arendt’s observation, with a festival of America’s musical heritage, from bluegrass to Broadway and gospel to hip hop. With the help of a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and from the Missouri Arts Council, as well as generous support from the University of Missouri, the Chancellor's Diversity Initiative, the MU Arts & Humanities Small Grants Program, the Daniel Boone Regional Library, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, and the local stage at The Blue Note, a series of events has been planned for your education, enlightenment, and entertainment. Don’t miss a second of what is in store for you.
