The Missouri Summer Composition Institute (or "C.O.M.P. camp"), is an exciting opportunity for some of Missouri’s young composers to come together for one week of learning and interacting with other creative minds. Participants will receive composition lessons from MU faculty and compose a piece to be premiered at the end of the week by a resident ensemble. The Institute is open to students entering grades 9-12 and entering college freshmen. Eight advanced division composers and eight intermediate division composers will be selected to participate.

Application Receipt Deadline: Monday, April 22, 2013
Notification of Selection: Wednesday, May 1, 2013
Summer Composition Institute Application Submission Guidelines:
• Download, complete, and return application form. (pdf)
• Submit written or printed scores of original music compositions.
• Submit recordings of the same works if available.
• Label all scores, CDs, tapes, videotapes, and DVDs with your name, and contact information.

Selected participants will pay an Institute Fee*: $100
*Former COMP winners receive a full scholarship.
The Institute fee is due at registration on Sunday, July, 23 if you are selected and not a full scholarship recipient.
Selected participants will be notified by May 1, 2013.
The institute fee includes 6 nights in a double room in one of Mizzou’s newest, air-conditioned residence halls and meals. Checks should be sent with the completed application and be made payable to MU School of Music.
