Strings

String students at the University of Missouri study with active performing and recording artists, including the renowned Esterhazy Quartet, MU's String Quartet-in-Residence. World-class artists, such as Paul Kantor, Charles Castleman, Donald McInnes, Joel Krosnick, Peabody Trio, JACK Quartet, Tesla Quartet, and members of the St. Louis Symphony regularly visit campus for master classes.

Students receive highly individualized attention from faculty, and benefit from numerous performing opportunities with ensembles including the University Philharmonic, which performs the full symphonic repertoire as well as opera and oratorio, the elite Chamber Soloists chamber orchestra, studio ensembles such as the Mizzou Cello Choir, and chamber music groups coached by members of the Esterhazy Quartet. In addition to music majors, music minors and non-majors are eligible to participate in any of these ensembles by audition.
