The Missouri Youth Orchestra was founded in 2006 by the University of Missouri’s School of Music to offer young string players a supportive and engaging group environment to further their musical development.  Working closely with the Missouri String Project, the Missouri Youth Orchestra Junior Strings offers string orchestra experience for 5th through 8th grade students.  Students are separated into Intermediate Strings (5/6) and Junior Strings (7/8) to give every player a challenging and rewarding musical experience.  The time that young string players have with the MYO Junior Strings prepares them for a wide variety of musical experiences, and is great for students of any level.

The MYO Junior Strings meets every Sunday afternoon during the school year, and culminates each semester in a large orchestra concert. Intermediate Strings (5/6) meet from 2:00PM – 3:00PM on Sunday afternoons, and sectionals are offered by the Missouri String Project from 5:10PM – 6:00PM on Wednesday afternoons.  Junior Strings (7/8) meet every Sunday from 3:10PM – 5:00PM.

Regular rehearsals are in Loeb Hall, Room 201 (5th St. and Elm); Intermediate Strings (5/6) Wednesday classes take place in the Fine Arts Building (University Ave and Hitt St.).

2013-2014 Concerts are scheduled for:
     December 8, 3:00PM – 5:00 PM
     May 11, 3:00PM – 5:00PM

2013-2014 MYO Schedule
