Dan Urton holds a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Arkansas State University, Master of Music degree in vocal performance from New England Conservatory of Music and a Master of Public Administration degree from Arkansas State University. Awarded two Vocal Fellowships for study at the the Tanglewood Music Festival, he has soloed under the baton of such conductors as Seiji Ozawa and Sir Colin Davis with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Sarah Caldwell with the Opera Company of Boston, Eve Queler with the Opera Orchestra of New York, John Oliver with the Tanglewood Festival Chorus, Craig Smith and John Harbison with Emmanuel Music, and Arthur Fiedler and Newton Weyland with the Boston Pops Orchestra. Some additional conductors and coaches include Gunther Schuller, Benton Hess, Daniel Pinkham, Phyllis Curtin, Allen Rogers, John Moriarty, and Michael Kaye. Urton has appeared professionally in over 25 operas. |
