Experiencing Piano for Kids - "Animal Adventures" Summer Camp

  • One-week piano summer camp organized around the theme of "Animal Adventures." Students will participate in musical games, crafts, improvisation and composition, and piano playing.
  • Open to all students, ages 6-9 (including piano beginners and those with prior piano experience). 
  • Dates: Monday-Friday, June 18th-22nd 
  • 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM in the Piano Lab, Hillel 101

  • Students should bring one snack and a lunch each day.
  • Tuition: $160 

 

 

Esterhazy String Quartet Seminar

  • Dates: June 18th - 25th, 2017
  • Tuition: $0 
    • Room/Board Fees: $550
    • All successful applicants receive full tuition scholarship to the Esterhazy String Quartet Seminar, but pay Room / Board fees 
  • Payment: $50 non-refundable application fee (due at time of application), $250 due May 12th, $250 remaining tuition due upon check-in June 18th
  • Application Deadline: materials postmarked by April 14th, 2017

Participants are selected through a highly-competitive live or recorded audition process. During the week-long session, participants will receive daily chamber music coachings, private lessons with Esterhazy Quartet members, and the opportunity to perform in solo masterclasses. Each chamber ensemble will perform at least twice during the session. The combination of a low student-faculty ratio, stimulating and talented peers, and the challenge of some of the world’s greatest music will inspire students to achieve tremendous musical and personal growth.

Missouri Summer Composition Institute (Summer COMP)

  • Dates: June 18th - 24th, 2017
  • Tuition: $100, due on or before June 18th
    • All current and former COMP Festival winners will receive a full scholarship to the Missouri Summer Composition Institute.
  • Application Deadline: Monday, April 24, 2017 (scores and recordings must be received by this date)

The Missouri Summer Composition Institute (or "Summer COMP"), is an exciting opportunity for some of Missouri’s young composers to come together for one week of learning and interacting with other creative minds. Participants will receive composition lessons from MU faculty and compose a piece to be premiered at the end of the week by a resident ensemble.

The Institute is open to students entering grades 9-12 and entering college freshmen. Eight advanced division composers and eight intermediate division composers will be selected to participate. The institute fee includes 6 nights in a double room in one of Mizzou’s newest, air-conditioned residence halls and meals.

  • A score and recording of (1) representative composition (live performance preferred, but MIDI recording acceptable);
  • A list of completed works

THERE WILL NOT BE A BAND CAMP OR A PIANO CAMP FOR JUNIOR HIGH AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN SUMMER 2017.  UNFORTUNATELY, THESE CAMPS ARE NO LONGER BEING OFFERED BY THE MU SCHOOL OF MUSIC.
