Community World Music Ensembles: Steel Pan and African Percussion Ensemble
The Community Steel Pan Ensemble welcomes anyone interested in learning how to play the steel pan, the national instrument of Trinidad and Tobago, in a comfortable group setting. Throughout the session, the group will be playing traditional calypsos and other musical styles while learning the history of the pan and Trinidadian culture. The only requirement to become a member is that you must be able to read music. No prior experience with steel pans or even percussion is necessary. The session will end with an informal performance held in Loeb Hall 201. A minimum of 6 people will need to enroll in this ensemble.
The Community African Percussion Ensemble welcomes anyone interested in studying music from Ghana, Guinea, and Zimbabwe in a comfortable group setting. Throughout the session, the group will learn traditional songs by rote while learning the history of these countries' music and culture. No prior experience is necessary. The session will end with an informal performance. A minimum of 6 people will need to enroll in this ensemble.
Tuiton & Payment
Cost: $100 for 10 classes
Tuition is due by 5:00PM on the Friday of your first week of attendance.

- Checks should be made out to the MU School of Music and can be dropped off from 9am-12pm or 1pm-5pm or mailed to the address below. Please indicate the name of the applicant on the check.
- Cash is only accepted in-person at the music office from 9am-12pm or 1pm-5pm.
- Payments will not be accepted from 8am-9am or 12pm-1pm
