Ireland 2020

Marching Mizzou Student Itinerary and Information

As you may have seen on our social media pages Marching Mizzou has officially accepted the invitation to perform in the St. Patrick's Festival Parade in Dublin and in the International Band Championship in Limerick, Ireland in March of 2020.

As you may be aware, Marching Mizzou participated in these same events in 2012 and 2016 and I'm thrilled to continue this recent tradition by having us return next March. The Parade and Festival organizers are also very excited to welcome us back overseas and to make memories yet again in their beautiful country. Our current Marching Mizzou seniors have spoken very highly of their experience in 2016 as well as recent alumni of Marching Mizzou who previously toured in 2012.

Daily highlights of the trip tentatively include the following. This itinerary will continue to be updated as further details of our trip become available:

Marching Mizzou Companion Tour Itinerary and Information

The Marching Mizzou Companion Tour will be led by Dr. Julia Gaines, our Director of our School of Music, and compliments what we do, but by design it is not our exact Marching Mizzou member itinerary and companions will not stay in the same hotels as we do on our trip. This itinerary, however, does allow for our companions to see our major performances: Limerick International Marching Band Festival and Competition, Gaelic Football or Hurling Match, St. Patrick's Day Parade, and performance at the Gates of the St. James Brewery, home of Guinness as well as see a number of the landmarks that we will on our trip. Highlights of their tour include the following:

Thursday, March 12, 2020

Travel to Dublin, Ireland from Chicago O'Hare or on own. Your families will have an option to purchase a "Air & Land Package" OR a "Land Only Package" via Bob Rogers Travel. We did this for two reasons:

1) Bob Rogers will book travel to Dublin only from Chicago O'Hare and note that travel to Chicago O'Hare is not provided so that must be done on their own. Some companions may be close to fly out of Chicago, or can travel to Chicago more easily, while others may be traveling from other cities around the United States. In the case of the latter this will allow those companions to book travel directly from closest airport to Dublin, then join our tour.

2) Companions may want to utilize other means to purchase their air such as air miles or other types of rewards.

Friday, March 13, 2020 - Dublin - Galway

Land in Dublin, Ireland, then bus to Galway, Ireland to enjoy the city. Once checked into their hotel in Galway, they will be treated to a "Welcome to Ireland" dinner.

Saturday, March 14, 2020 - Galway - Cliffs of Moher

Their day will start with a traditional Irish breakfast, then they will travel to the Cliffs of Moher (Ireland's most visited natural attraction). Once finished they will return to enjoy more time in Galway.

Sunday, March 15, 2020 - Limerick - Bunratty Medieval Castle

Their day will start with a traditional Irish breakfast, then they will watch us compete in the 50th Annual International Band Championship. They will also join us for our performance either at the Gaelic Football or Hurling Match, but again this is dependent on their schedules. After our performance they will travel to Bunratty Medieval Castle for dinner.

Monday, March 16, 2020 - Dublin via Blarney Castle

After a traditional Irish breakfast, they will depart for Dublin via Blarney Castle. They will visit the castle, kiss the Blarney Stone, and have time to shop at the Blarney Woolen Mills. After shopping they will stop at the Rock of Cashel before continuing on to Dublin for the evening.

Tuesday, March 17, 2020 - Dublin - St. Patrick's Day!

Our companions will be escorted to the viewing grandstands to watch the parade. After our performance they will be escorted to the Guinness Store House to watch us perform outside of the Gates of the St. James Brewery. Following our performance they will also enjoy a pint at the Gravity Bar to enjoy the stunning views of Dublin city from their "Gravity Bar" at the top of the Brewery.

Wednesday, March 18, 2020 - Dublin

Today they will enjoy a city tour of Dublin where they will visit Trinity College, see the Book of Kells, and the Collins Barracks, before they join us for our Farewell Dinner and Irish Cabaret (our companions will be with us for this evening dinner).

Thursday, March 19, 2020 - Return Home

Sadly, the process of returning home will occur this day. For those who purchased the "Air and Land Package" they will travel back to Chicago, O'Hare.

Prices and payment structure are as follows:

Air & Land Package: $3,350.00 per traveler (Double Occupancy)

Air & Land Package: $3,955.00 per traveler (Single Occupancy)

Land Only Package: $2,250.00 per traveler (Double Occupancy)

Land Only Package: $2,855.00 per traveler (Single Occupancy)

For payment we will be utilizing the Bob Rogers Travel Individual Payment System (IPS) that is all done online. Payments must be made through this system via VISA, MasterCard, DISCOVER, Credit/Debit card or VISA/MasterCard Reloadable Pre-Paid Card, and will be automatically deducted from your selected card on the payment due dates.

Please set up and create your IPS account as soon as possible. Directions on how to accomplish this, as well as the payment schedule, can be found here: Companion Tour IPS Registration Form. Once you have created an account your preferred card will be charged according to the payment schedule.

We are hopeful you will find this payment schedule manageable as we prepare for next March.
