How to Nominate:

Students and Directors can submit nominations online through the 2025 All-Juniors Honor Band Nomination Form. Directors, please confirm that students can commit to participating fully in both days of the Honor Band before applying. Feel free to distribute this flyer to interested students. Nomination deadline is December 13, 2024. MU band faculty will then make final decisions based upon nominations and instrumentation needs. All nominated students—and their band director(s)—will be notified of their acceptance status by December 20, 2024.

When:

Sunday-Monday, February 16-17, 2025

Who:

Talented high school juniors! Current juniors who have been accepted into the 2024–2025 Missouri All-State Band or Orchestra (including honorable mention) will receive automatic acceptance into the MU All-Juniors Honor Band and will have their registration fee waived. In addition, current juniors who have been accepted into a 2024–2025 All-District Band will be given priority consideration for acceptance. Please note, however, that there are limitations on the number of instrumentalists in each section that can be accepted.

What:

This event provides 11th-grade band students the opportunity to experience the collegiate concert band environment through interaction with MU School of Music faculty and students. Juniors chosen for this Honor Band will receive instruction from both MU band and applied faculty members. The event will culminate in a joint concert with the MU Wind Ensemble at the historic Missouri Theatre in downtown Columbia. The $50 participation fee covers the cost for a commemorative t-shirt and meals while on campus. All selected students are expected to provide their own transportation to and from Columbia for the event. Selected students are also expected to make their own housing accommodations the evening of February 16. There are a number of hotels within walking and driving distance to the MU campus. Final Concert:

Friends, family, and band directors are welcome to attend the final concert on Monday, February 17, 2025 at 7 PM in the historic Missouri Theatre (203 S. Ninth Street, Columbia, MO). Tickets are $5.00 and are available for purchase at the Missouri Theatre upon arrival. For those unable to attend, the concert will be available to live stream on the MU School of Music YouTube channel.

Parking in campus/city garages is free after 6 PM. Meters for street parking are active until 7 PM and will accept coins or payment via the ParkMobile App. Missouri Theatre guests are encouraged to park in Hitt Street Garage or use metered street parking.

Visitors to the MU campus are encouraged to sign up for MU Alert while on campus. The sign-up process is quick and you can opt out at any time. MU Alert is only used only for emergencies that may affect your health and safety.
