Fundraising for 2022 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Begins

In November 2022, Marching Mizzou will represent Missouri in Herald’s Square of New York City as they march in the 96th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.  This endeavor will cost approximately half a million dollars, and we need your help!  We estimate that enrollment will increase as a result of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.  As a result, this will require additional instruments and uniforms. In addition, the entire band will fly to New York City, as there is a home football game against Arkansas the Saturday after Thanksgiving.  With hotels, meals, and airfare for approximately 350 students and staff, we need as much financial assistance as possible.

We are so thankful that the Macy’s Foundation provided seed money for our fundraising efforts in the amount of $10,000.  As you can see, Dr. Knopps and newly-announced 2021 Drum Major and music education major Alex Weinzierl enjoyed taking pictures with the big promotional check!  We appreciate everyone who has reached out with their congratulations and questions about how to offer their generous support.  We have now established a separate Give Direct page for this purpose, and it is now operational.

If you would like to support Marching Mizzou for their trip to the Big Apple, or in any other way, please contact Dr. Julia Gaines, Director of the School of Music.  Thank you for your support of our students. MIZ
