School of Music Singers Headed to NATS Finals
Once again, the School of Music has students heading to the Finals competition of NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) in Chicago during their 57th National Conference July 1-2, 2022. This will be the third round of competition for these students as they have already been successful at the state and regional levels. NATS divides their competitions up into several categories and our National Semifinalists from MU are:
Lower Musical Theater TBB (tenor, baritone, bass) -- Nathan Le (teacher – Kyle Stegall)
Upper Musical Theater Treble -- Dani Major (teacher – Kyle Stegall)
Upper Musical Theater TBB -- Anthony Blatter (teacher - Steven Tharp) and Joel Rodriguez (teacher – Kyle Stegall)
Upper Classical TBB -- Yonny Astatke (teacher – Kyle Stegall) and Anthony Blatter (teacher – Steven Tharp)
Their collaborative pianist was Bomi Kim from Columbia, Missouri. This will be the second time around competing at this level for Anthony Blatter as he also was a National Semifinalist in 2018 as a freshman.
We are thrilled for our students to compete on the national stage and congratulate them, their teachers, and their collaborative pianists. Good luck in July!
