Utku Asuroglu

Utku Asuroglu is the recipient of the Outstanding Artist Award for Music from the Austrian Ministry of Culture, a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Koussevitzky Music Foundation Commission, the 40th International Irino Prize, the 24th Salvatore Martirano Composition Award, the City of Graz Composition Prize, and the Goethe Award in South Korea (2016). He was also a laureate of the Gaudeamus Prize 2015.

His works have been featured at major festivals and institutions including Dutch National Opera, Théâtre de Luxembourg, Donaueschinger Musiktage, Gaudeamus Muziekweek, Darmstädter Ferienkurse, Wittener Tage für neue Kammermusik, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Manifeste, MATA Festival, Royaumont, ISCM World Music Days, Tongyeong International Music Festival, and Essen European Capital of Culture. His music has been performed by leading orchestras and ensembles worldwide, including Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Ensemble Modern, Asko|Schönberg, Ensemble Dal Niente, JACK Quartet, Mivos Quartet, Talea Ensemble, Ensemble LINEA, IEMA, Slagwerk Den Haag, Ensemble Riot, Divertimento Ensemble, Ensemble Proton Bern, and Signum Quartett.

Asuroglu pursued his musical studies at the Rotterdam Conservatory, Kunstuniversität Graz, Hochschule für Musik Freiburg, and IRCAM, and received his doctorate from Stanford University in 2023.

He is currently Assistant Professor of Composition at the University of Missouri School of Music and Asst. Artistic Director of the Mizzou International Composers Festival.
