Nathaniel L. Ferguson is a saxophonist, educator, composer, and adjunct instructor of Jazz Studies at the University of Missouri. He holds a M.A. in jazz studies/performance from the university of Iowa, as well as a B.S. Business administration and B.A. in Interdisciplinary studies from the university of Missouri. He has studied with renowned saxophonists Dr. Damani Phillips, Dr. Leo Saguiguit, and Dr. Kenneth Tse, and has performed with a host of jazz notables like Carmen Bradford, Terell Stafford, Rufus Reid and others.
As a composer and arranger, his inspiration stems from a wide range of jazz sub genres to include Bebop, Hard Bop, Soul, and Latin jazz. He is an active performer, clinician, and proud Mizzou alumni returning home following study and faculty roles at the university of Iowa. His interests also include fostering business connections and advancing philanthropic efforts aimed at supporting the local music community and promoting young musicianship in underserved and underrepresented communities.
