The Master of Music (MM) degree is a program that may be earned with an emphasis in Collaborative Piano, Composition, Conducting (choral, orchestral, winds), Music Education, Music History, Music Theory, Piano Pedagogy, or Performance (brass, percussion, piano, strings, voice, or woodwinds). Through continued development of performance skills and overall musicianship, the Master of Music degree is designed to prepare the graduate for a career in performance or teaching, or doctoral study. A Bachelor’s degree in music is the prerequisite in order to pursue a Master of Music degree.

MM in Music Education
Become conversant with concepts and issues related to music curriculum, pedagogy, philosophy, history, psychology, and current issues in the field.
Improve personal musicianship in music history, music theory, conducting, and/or applied music
Develop proficiency in obtaining, reading, interpreting and applying music education research to teaching and learning.

Develop advanced proficiency in identifying type and function of musical elements and apply this knowledge in composition, education, performance, and research.
