Caleb Haselhuhn
Caleb Haselhuhn serves as Adjunct Professor of Voice at The University of Missouri-Columbia, where he teaches applied voice, opera workshop, and diction for singers. He is a DMA candidate in Voice Performance (ABD) at The University of Iowa, studying with Dr. David Meyer. His research focuses on encouraging student autonomy in collegiate voice teaching practices. He served as a voice teaching assistant at UI for three years, teaching applied voice and assisting with Diction for Singers and Musical Theatre Workshop. During his doctoral studies, Haselhuhn also served on the voice faculties of Coe College and Grinnell College, and he taught voice at Prairie High School. Haselhuhn earned the MA in Music:Voice Performance degree from UI in 2023, during which time he was recognized as an Iowa Performance Fellow.
Prior to further graduate studies, Haselhuhn was the instrumental music teacher at Anamosa High School where he taught applied lessons and led the concert, marching, and jazz bands as well as music directing the musicals and managing the school’s auditorium. He earned the Master of Arts in Music Education and Bachelor of Arts in Music (Magna Cum Laude) degrees from Truman State University, where he was a student of Dr. Phyllis Robertson.
Haselhuhn has performed with many arts organizations in the Midwest, including UI Opera, Crooked Path Productions, Cedar Rapids Opera, Opera Quad Cities, Chicago Summer Opera, Giving Tree Theater, City Circle Theatre Company, Theatre Cedar Rapids, and Truman Opera Theater.
Recent recitals include Dating Sucks, an exploration of modern dating through various genres of music and True Crime in Concert, a musical deep dive into the world of true crime.
Haselhuhn presented a pilot study of his dissertation research, “Encouraging Student Autonomy in Singing Instruction” at The Voice Foundation's Annual Syposium in Philadelphia in May of 2026. This work was also accepted to the Pan European Voice Conference in Istanbul in March 2026.
In addition to his formal studies, Haselhuhn has sought professional learning from The Association for Body Mapping Education, Meisner in Music (Level 1 Teacher), and The Singing Athlete (Level 1 Teacher).
