Bachelor of Music in Brass Performance

The brass area at the University of Missouri provides instruction by distinguished faculty for majors and non-music majors.

Performance opportunities abound for students choosing to continue their musical studies as brass performers at Mizzou. In addition to individual lessons, concert bands, marching band, orchestra, and jazz ensembles, brass students may elect to participate in one or more of the many brass chamber ensembles directed by members of the brass faculty. These include brass quintets, brass choir, the MU Trumpet Ensemble, the Mizzou Horn Choir, the University of Missouri Trombone Choir, and the MU Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble. These ensembles perform regularly at regional and national conventions and workshops as well as at our annual Holiday Brass Concert.

Music scholarships, awarded by the School of Music are available to talented freshmen and transfer students, based primarily on performance ability. Music scholarships are directed at talented music and music education majors, but we do have a very small number of non-major scholarships awarded to highly talented performers, especially in underrepresented instrument/voice areas in our ensembles.  Scholarship awards are based on a performance audition at a Mizzou Music Day.
